Mini Class Week
Class Reminders
Mini Classes:
This is our mini class week, focusing on small projects to make for your home, yourself, or as gifts. Each class is only $5, and only half day. How easy is that?
Monday, August 13: Kathy will teach you how to make the oh-so-useful microwave bowls. These are shaped hot pads that you can use when you heat up foods in your microwave (or to keep your hands warm while eating a bowl of ice cream.) Bring two fat quarters, some all-cotton batting, cotton thread and your sewing machine, and take home a finished project. (10am to 1pm)
Tuesday, August 14: Michelle is teaching fun and easy cell-phone bags, which are handy for other things – as a small wallet to wear when you don't want to carry a purse, a small sewing kit, etc. You will need the pattern (which includes the interfacing and finishing straps for 3 bags), ¼ yd fabric, thread, and your sewing machine. (1pm to 3:30pm)
Wednesday, August 15: Sharon will show you how to make lovely, completely finished, pillowcases, great for home or gifts. You will need 3 different fabrics for the body (1 yd), the hem (½ yd) and the contrasting flange between the hem and the body (2-3” strip), thread, and sewing machine. (10am – 1pm)
Thursday, August 16: Barbara will show you how to construct a pin cushion/scrap bag to sit next to your sewing machine. You will need a pattern, two fat quarters, thread, sewing machine. These are sew handy – you will want more than one! (1 – 4pm)
Friday, August 17: LaDawnna will teach you how to make simple, easily finished place mats for every day or special occasions. You will need two fat quarters, ½ yd fusible batting, thread, sewing machine. (10am - 1pm)
Saturday, August 18: This is not a make-and-take like the other classes. Instead, Amy will be demonstrating how to make the really cute Happy Hollow designs for the holidays. She will be demonstrating this all day, so you can stop by any time for this class. And, if you wish to work on your own Happy Hollow project, bring your machine and stay as long as you wish! Amy has made lots of these projects, and will be available to help you.
Again, all mini-classes are only $5 – what a bargain!!! Please sign up in the shop or on-line. Remember, you can always see our calendar on the website, and it is easy to enroll in classes on-line.
A new class just added to our calendar is an Anita Goodesign in-the-hoop quilt! You have a choice of two projects: A charming nursery rhyme baby quilt, or “A Bud's Life”, which is a beautiful botanical wall hanging/quilt. These projects are embroidered, pieced, and quilted in the hoop, and they are stunning! This is taught by Susan Kadlubar, and there are still a few available seats, so sign up now! Class begins in September – check the calendar for dates and times.
