This is from the Hot Springs Village Quilt Guild that meets second Thursday of the month. Applications to join are at the shop! Several of you have been asking for thread work!
Just a reminder about our upcoming programs and workshop.
The workshop fee is $75 and includes a kit. The kits have to be ordered by April 12th, so register now. The kit contains 12 wt cotton, 40 wt rayon, 60 wt Poly Lite, holoshimmer and bobbin threads, stabilizers and fabrics needed (including muslin and batting).
What will we learn?
Couching: Learn the basics of raw edge appliqué; layering techniques; machine fed/free-motion couching and free-motion straight stitch thread painting. Couch yarns to a create an object or make awesome textures by threading multiple threads through the eye of a single needle.
Thread Sketching: Learn how to write cursive with your machine - great for labels and signing quilts; basic free-motion straight stitching with different thread types; free-motion quilting, free-motion fill-in; introduction to thread sketched portraits and pen & ink tangles. These exercises will help you get your stitches more uniform in length.
