Upcoming Classes
We have one chair left in Bernina Academy this Friday and Saturday. It is a "Mystery Make" and it promises to be a fun learning experience. We are so happy to have last year's instructor, Sandy Swick, returning. Everyone learned so much from her and she is a talented and funny instructor! If you are considering the purchase of a new machine, this is a good class to attend. You will be sewing, embroidering, etc. on Bernina's top 2 machines, the 790 Plus and the 880 Plus. She will also demonstrate the newest air threaded serger, the L890. If you purchase any machine during the class, your class fee will apply to the purchase price - and if you purchase one of the classroom machines, you will benefit from the special pricing available because they become demo models after being used for the class. Win, win!!!
Monday and Tuesday of the following week (August 9 and 10) Sharon will be teaching Bernina Mastery Classes. Anyone with a new machine that has not had their Mastery Classes yet, please call the shop to sign up.
We have a Beginner Quilting class starting Friday, August 13. It is already filled, but we are considering having a Sunday afternoon class for anyone who cannot attend on weekdays. (Saturdays are very busy here, so they are not an option.) If you are interested, or know someone who might want a Sunday afternoon class, please let us know.
Saturday, August 14 is Christmas in July! (A bit late due to some of the shipping and manufacturing issues caused by Covid, but it is finally here!) We are so excited about the new Holiday fabrics, and we are sure you will be, too. All Christmas fabrics will be 15% off but if you are dressed for the Christmas theme of the day - you can get another 5% off! So bring on the holiday spirit! It's always a fun day with the gang at Hickory Hill.
The next afternoon, Sunday the 15th, Lorri Helberg, owner of Arkansas Yarn Company, will have a trunk show of her stunning yarns from 1 to 3pm. So, all you knitters, crocheters, and yarn lovers, don't miss this opportunity!
Monday the 16th is a new Kimberbell Event, "A Day at the Fair." Bring your embroidery machine and plan for a fun day!
Several of you have asked about English Paper piecing! On the 18th, Wanda Mahn will be teaching her quilting bee, the Sassy Bee, how to do English paper piecing from 10 am until noon. She has invited all those interested to join them for this session! This is a hand quilting art.
The 19th, the first Continuum BOM will meet from 12:30 - 4:00pm. You can make a wall-hanging or a king sized quilt - or anything in between with these beautiful blocks. When you sign up for this, be sure to let our staff know whether or not you will need the templates required for the class. Because they are available in 3 thicknesses to accommodate all brands of machines, we do not stock these - they will have to be ordered to fit your machine.
Sheryl White will teach her Scrappy Diamonds quilt Saturday the 21st. As with all our classes, you may sign up in person, over the phone, or on line. Stay tuned for more fun at Hickory Hill Quilts!
